The winter holidays are thought of as a time to celebrate with loved ones. But for older adults who do not live near family or friends, or are socially isolated, the holiday season can be a particularly challenging time of year. According to an AARP survey, 28% of U.S. adults ages 50 and older report that they’ve experienced loneliness during a holiday season over the past five years, and 43% have worried about a friend or family member who was lonely during the holidays.
There is immense value to be found in having a sense of community and social interaction during the holiday season. At Revel, you will find an intimate community with real “community”. We encourage residents to continue their cherished holiday traditions, and to embrace connecting with friends and neighbors to form new bonds and bring new traditions to life. Whether you choose to lead the resident tree-decorating committee, or attend an educational seminar about Kwanzaa, we invite you to embrace all that the holiday season at Revel has to offer.
